The Hard Truths Regarding the Good News of the Kingdom of God
Billy Graham, an American evangelist and ordained Southern Baptist minister simplified what it means to be a Christian. He started with the famous verse from the Gospel of John:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)
From there, Billy would teach the non-believer the fundamental Christian doctrines of sin, repentance, faith, resurrection, servitude, obedience, discipleship, and prayer culminating in a call to the non-Christian to share in prayer, which if prayed in honest sincerity assured eternal life in Heaven. This prayer is often referred to as "The Salvation Prayer"
“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
A wonderful prayer and essentially it is true...BUT for sure, there is more to "eternal life" than just saying a prayer. It would be wrong for us not to point out the reality the Kingdom of God and some hard truths regarding our salvation. If you would like to read more, click the below links
